About
Written from the site, not from a marketing department
Builder Proof UK exists because the same avoidable problems come up on domestic building work again and again — and almost all of them are paperwork problems.
Our guides are written from the perspective of an experienced UK builder who has spent years on domestic projects: extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments and the repair jobs that follow work done badly the first time.
The pattern is remarkably consistent. The homeowner receives three quotations that price three different jobs. A deposit is paid before anyone is on site. Extras are agreed verbally and invoiced later at a figure nobody expected. When something goes wrong there is no written record, and the homeowner is left arguing from memory.
None of that requires a solicitor to prevent. It requires a written scope of works, a sensible payment structure, a signed variation form and a daily photograph log. That is exactly what our checklists provide.
What we will not do
We will not invent testimonials, star ratings or customer numbers. We will not use countdown timers, false scarcity or exaggerated savings claims. And we will not pretend a PDF replaces a professional: where a chartered surveyor, structural engineer, architect or solicitor is genuinely needed, our guides say so plainly.
Most builders are good
This is not an anti-builder business. Clear paperwork protects competent builders as much as it protects homeowners — it is the vagueness in between that causes the arguments.
